Traditional methods of restoration are our specialty. Handed down from time served skilled craftsmen within generations of our family, all of our work is carried out here in our Battersea workshop. We can also advise you on colour, design, durability and suitability for your home and business environment.
About James. At 15 I started my apprenticeship at Clements International in Kent. I continued in London WC2 with both Curzon Design WC2 and well-known interior designer, Kenneth Neame of Brook Street W1. In 1980 I established James Harris Upholstery Fulham, moving to Chelsea Bridge in 1985. Keeping true to my traditional time served skills I then set up the Alterative Sofa Company to cater for the individual needs of my clients. In 1989 I moved to Webb’s Road, founding The Upholstery Workshop, where we remain to the present day.
We hope you will choose to become patrons of traditional upholders of London.
George represents the next generation of the family business. He has a flair to learn and passion to uphold the traditional and vanishing skills of our trade.
